Your Time is Now!

With the Final Four Men’s and Women’s collegiate basketball championship starting this weekend I decided to share something I wrote for one of my clients to share with his team before their game.

I often tell my clients that the difference between winners and losers is that losers wait for the right time to act and winners act to make the time right.

You have put in the work to get where you are and it’s up to you to trust your preparation and get the job done. If you want to be a champion there is no waiting, just doing! There is no time like the present and those who act now have the best chance of controlling the outcome.

It’s up to you to secure your legacy. Don’t make the mistake of doing what so many underachieving players and teams have done before you, the ones that simply let the chips fall where they may.

Instead, choose to be the team that plays for each other and refuses to let themselves or anyone else on their team underperform. Pick yourself and your teammates up and finish the job. No one is given a championship, it’s up to you to go out and take it.

There’s nothing sadder than a player or team that looks back and wonders “What if?” we kept our foot on the gas, or didn’t let doubts enter our mind, etc. Be the player or team that finishes and never has to ask “what if?”

I always say, “There are two major self-inflicted pains in life… The TEMPORARY PAIN of self-discipline, and the NEVER-ENDING PAIN of regret.”

This is why your time is always NOW! It’s always about what you do NOW and all those NOWs add up to your destiny. You have put in the work and all your goals are there waiting to be taken. Everything you have done has prepared you for this moment and paved the road in front of you. You are a finely tuned racecar and now is the time to drive those last few miles and take what you have earned!

No one remembers what could have been, but everyone remembers what you did. Play like you have nothing to lose and everything to gain… because you do. If you do this, you and your team will not have to face living with regret.
